Cyclescheme were excellent partners
The Highland Council contracted with Cyclescheme to administer a Bike to Work scheme in May 2006. The scheme ran for two months (longer than envisaged) and proved very popular with our 12 000 employees. Our Employees found the system easy to use, and Cyclescheme knew their market very well and are committed bikes people rather than simply a finance driven operation. Using local bike shops as the source of product is key to this. Cyclescheme were excellent partners in the day to day administration of the scheme, and took real trouble to relate what they did to The Highland Council's unique area. I would recommend Cyclescheme to any Organisation who wants to reap the benefits of a bike to work scheme.

The Department of Transport wishes to encourage employers to be more cycle friendly by signing up to the Cycle to Work Guarantee, a five-point plan, covering the following key areas:
- Secure, safe, and accessible bike parking facilities for all staff who want them
- Good quality changing and locker facilities for all staff who want them
- Offset the cost of cycling equipment and save on the tax through the ‘Cycle to Work scheme’
- Bike repair for cyclists on or near site
- Training, reward and incentive programmes to achieve targets for more cycling.
The Cycle to Work Guarantee is a practical package that takes the Government’s cycle to work programme forward in a sustainable and achievable way.
