Cyclescheme is the UK's most popular cycle to work benefit, creating more cyclists than any other provider.

Cycle to Work Day is the UK’s biggest cycle commuting event, and it’s back for the ninth consecutive year! An opportunity for cycling communities to unite, with the shared goal of getting the nation on two wheels. For one day, we ask cyclists of all ages, skill levels and abilities to swap their usual journey to work for a cycle instead.

This year, many of our ‘commutes’ have changed. You might be thinking ‘Cycle to… Who? What? where?’ or ‘How on earth will I fit a bike ride into my new commute downstairs?’. In 2020 we’re embracing the unknown. We’re asking you to ride anywhere, for any reason and with anyone. It’s still Cycle to Work Day, but with a twist.

So, no matter what the state of your current commute is, you can get involved. Whether it’s early morning, afternoon or after work. Perhaps it’s making time for a quick lunch-break bike ride? Leaving the car at home for your trip to the shop? Or even a socially distanced cycle with family and friends. If you’re planning a journey of any kind on Thursday 6 August 2020, get on your bike!

Here’s how to get involved

Joining in on the day is easy - simply hop on your bike, log your journey on Love To Ride and inspire others to get involved alongside you.

  • Download the Love to Ride app from the App Store or Google Play

  • Create your profile on the Cyclescheme Community

  • If you already use Strava or Under Armour Connected Fitness, sync your tracker app to your Love to Ride account. Or, track with Love to Ride itself.

  • Log your Cycle to Work Day ride for the chance to win prizes

There are plenty of advantages to cycling that speak for themselves, but as an extra incentive to get pedalling on the big day, we’ll be giving away great prizes. To enter our Cycle to Work Day prize draw, just log your ride.

What can you win?

Help spread the word: Share your cycle on social media

We want to see your post bike-ride grins, your cycle route scenery and your journey logs. It’s all in the name of showing the nation that cycling is a great way to get around, with environmental advantages and wellness benefits. Once you’ve experienced the effects first-hand, share the joy. With so many obvious perks, inspiring others to saddle up could be as easy as posting a cycle selfie. It’s a social cycle of positivity. Simply share with the hashtag #CycleToWorkDay.

Whilst you’re at it, keep an eye out on our TwitterFacebook and Instagram for updates throughout the day. You may even hear a few Cycle to Work Day shoutouts on the radio.

There’s still time to get equipped

Cycle to Work Day is chance for everyone to get involved, no matter your experience or resources. You don’t need any specialist equipment. Dusting off your old bike, borrowing a friend’s or hiring a Santander Cycle for a few hours are all perfect ways to get moving.

However, if you are looking for a new bike, helmet, or other accessories - there’s still time. When you buy through Cyclescheme, you’ll save a minimum of 25%, as well as being able to spread the cost.
