All colleagues on Argos terms and conditions (excluding hourly paid colleagues in UK Argos standalone stores, Ebay/Clearance, Highams Park and Regional Fulfilment Centres aligned to Sainsbury's terms and conditions and all colleagues in Local Fulfilment Centres).

The Sainsbury’s Argos Cyclescheme benefit is perfect for reducing your commute time, socially distanced commuting, improving health & fitness, stress reduction, financial wellbeing and reducing your environmental impact.

The purpose of the scheme is to support employees in commuting by bike to and from work, and/or between workplaces, thereby contributing to lowering carbon emissions, reducing traffic congestion, and improving health & fitness levels.

Through the scheme, you can save 32-42% during your hire period (with a separate End of Hire transaction) on the cost of a bike and/or cycle accessories & components up to the value of £3,000.

There’s nothing to pay upfront, no credit checks and no interest fees to pay. Just tax-free repayments taken straight from your salary over 12 months or 13 pay periods depending on your salary frequency.

How do I apply

1. Visit any of our Cyclescheme Partner Stores (online or instore) and get a quote for the items you wish to apply for

2. Once you have your quote click the button below to start your Cyclescheme application

3. Your application will then be reviewed and if you are eligible for the benefit and the amount you have applied for your Cyclescheme Certificate will be issued to you via an email notification

4. Redeem your Cyclescheme Certificate with your chosen Cyclescheme Partner Store

5. Salary deductions will commence from your next salary following your application.

Are there any reasons why my application would be refused?

If the hire cost reduction of the cycle package you've chosen (together with any other salary sacrifice schemes you're participating in) means that your salary will fall below the statutory minimum rate we legally need to ensure we pay you, we will turn down your application. If this happens you may apply again requesting a lower loan amount.

Your application may also be declined if you do not meet the elgibility criteria. If your elgibility changes you may then apply again.

Applications must also be made via the correct scheme, dtermined by your terms and conditions. Using the wrong link to the wrong scheme will also cause your application to not progress. When you apply, ensure that you follow the correct guide relative to your terms and conditions.

Making the most of your application

Do your research before making your application:
We would recommend that you visit a Cyclescheme Partner store – instore or online - to get a quote before you make your online application.

This will mean you are not applying and then having to cancel and reapply – delaying you getting your bike package - and means that we can get your Cyclesheme Certificate to you sooner.

Know how much you want to/can spend
It is important you apply for the right amount as you cannot add funds to your Cyclescheme Certificate and your salary deductions will be based on the amount you apply for. You can use our Savings Calculator above to get an idea of how much your monthly salary deduction and savings might be.

It is important to know that:
A salary sacrifice arrangement must not reduce an employee’s cash earnings below the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates. Employers must put procedures in place to cap salary sacrifice deduction and ensure NMW rates are maintained

If the amount you apply for along with any other Salary Sacrifice arrangements, you currently have in place brings you near or below National Minimum/Living wage your application will be declined.

You can get an idea of how much you can apply for by inputting your details into the Cyclescheme Savings Calculator below.

If you do apply for an amount that is not permitted your application will be cancelled but you will be informed if you can reapply for a different amount.

Cycling Accessories

Ensure you get cycling accessories to cover all eventualities. People often forget to get items which are vital for their commute or comfort. Include them in your application and you make Tax and NI savings.

Get accessories to cover all season cycling:
• Shower proof & waterproof clothing
• Reflective items to make sure you are seen
• Cycling caps, base layers & helmets
• Mirrors mudguards, bells & panniers
• Additional lights for darker nights and mornings

Prevent bike theft:
• As part of your bike package you can purchase a lock. We suggest you choose a decent D lock – a sold secure standard is best – it is suggested you spend 10-20% of the cost of your bike on a decent lock
• Get cyclist specific insurance and also grab yourself 14 free days insurance
• Make sure your bike is registered for free with Bike Register
