Cyclescheme is the UK's most popular cycle to work benefit, creating more cyclists than any other provider.

Revolutions often start in the most innocuous of ways. Back in 2006, Islabikes founder Isla Rowntree was asked by her sister to recommend the best children’s bike for her nieces. Competitive by nature Isla took the challenge seriously.

Despite looking high and low for a suitable bike she found nothing worthy of recommendation. Children’s bikes then were often viewed as toys. Many were built for novelty value and tended to be heavy, poorly built and crucially not designed for the needs of growing children.

Despite the advice of naysayers, Isla decided there must be a market for high-quality children’s bikes. She would design them herself.

Islabikes was literally born in a barn. The first bikes were designed in a converted cowshed in the tiny village of Claverley in Shropshire.

Still concentrating on the details that others ignore, today Islabikes have built upon their reputation as revolutionaries in children’s cycling by applying their design philosophy to a range of unique adult bikes.

With trademark attention to design details that ensure you’ll always have the gear you need for that climb; brakes, gears and steering that are as light to operate as the bike itself; and lightweight, versatile frames that offer the perfect fit for its rider.

Rather than sell bikes widely through third parties, Islabikes only sell directly to you. This means that each bike receives personal attention from someone who knows them inside out – an Islabikes mechanic.

Designed with practicality and versatility in mind the Beinn 29 will take anything in its stride from family cycling, to commuting, to touring. Further-more you can equip your Beinn 29 with mudguards, luggage rack and panniers for the ultimate commuter bike setup.

The eJanis’ 11-40t, 10 speed, wide ratio cassette provides super-low gearing when riding without power assist but also a high enough gear to make full use of the boost from the motor.

Islabikes lightweight cranks are specific lengths for each frame size, as short as 160mm for the extra small model. They feature a direct mount narrow-wide chainring and are specifically designed to reduce the Q-factor and so optimise pedalling comfort and efficiency.
