Whether you are a seasoned commuter or are preparing for Cycle to Work Day on September 12, British Cycling has a host of great tips and advice to help you out. From how-to guides on what to eat and drink, to the optimum kit and commuting skills you’ll need to be prepared for your daily commute.
Here's a few pointers to help get you started:
Waterproofs - for those surprisingly rare days when you get caught in a downpour. Look for breathable fabrics so you don't get that 'boil in the bag' effect. Find out more on waterproofs.
Essential toolkit contents - pump, inner-tube, tyre levers, folding Allen key set.
Bag - rucksack, courier bag, shoulder bag, panniers - whatever suits your style, bike or budget. Find out what will suit you best.
Lights - if you commute in the dark you'll need a set of lights. Good news is that quality lights are cheap, lightweight, unobtrusive and readily available. Find out which set is best for you
