What’s your favourite National Cycle Network Route?

Sustrans is celebrating 20 years of the National Cycle Network, which now boasts over 14,000 miles of traffic-free and quiet on-road walking and cycling routes right across the UK. Routes that allow you to explore your local area and provide a better way of getting around.

Nearly five million people make the most of this incredible Network every year, from commuters and school children to dog walkers and weekend cyclists.

What’s more, it’s entirely free for everyone to access and as it passes within a mile of 55% of homes within the UK, there’s bound to be a local route to you.

In the Network’s anniversary year, we have launched a public vote to find the UK’s Favourite Route.

The vote features two categories – under 30 miles and long distance.

We’re delighted to be partnering with Cyclescheme, who have picked the Bath Two Tunnels route as their favourite under 30 miles.

Cyclescheme had this to say about the route:

"The Bath Two Tunnels route is special for many reasons. For a start this excellent cycleway is on the doorstep of Cyclescheme's office in Bath meaning it improves the lives of our active commuters coming in from the South of Bath. Cycle to Work Day 2013 saw us utilise the cycleway for our inclusive staff ride, where we took staff of all abilities for a round trip. As if this wasn’t enough, we feel that the Two Tunnels warrant celebration for no other reason than that they make sense! There were two beautiful, useful and historically relevant tunnels sat dormant under tonnes of rock. The team behind their revitalisation brought them back to life and ensured many more generations will benefit from them.”

There are 10 routes in each category to vote for. Perhaps you have cycled the family-friendly Cuckoo Trail in East Sussex, or the Union Canal in Scotland?

Or maybe you prefer a long distance, challenging route like the stunning Sea to Sea (C2C) or the Celtic Trail?

Check out the shortlist for each category and cast your vote now!
