Cyclescheme is the UK's most popular cycle to work benefit, creating more cyclists than any other provider.

Congratulations on applying to get a new bike!

This page covers information that may be useful specifically due to the COVID-19 pandemic (which has had a fairly disruptive effect on workplaces and the cycle trade).

I've applied, what happens next?

Your employer will review your request and either approve or deny. This decision rests solely with your employer.

When approved, your employer will fund your request - this can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 30 days. This timescale is dependent on your employer.

Once your request is approved and paid, you’ll receive your eCertificate via email. You can now redeem this for a new bike and/or cycle accessories.

How can I check on the progress of my application?

We will email you at every stage of the process - for example, you can expect to receive an email when:

  • You apply
  • Your request is approved or declined
  • Your eCertificate is ready

In the meantime, you can log into your MyCyclescheme account at any time to view your request status. You can learn more about MyCyclescheme in the knowledge base

How can I speed the process up?

Once you have submitted your application, the immediate actions tend to be responsibility of your employer.

To speed up the process, it may be acceptable to contact your HR/Benefits team. Please note, all companies are different and certain procedures and timeframes may need to be followed.

At Cyclescheme we receive a high volume of calls on this topic, but in most cases it is your employer who controls the speed on your benefit. We recommend you contact them first - start with your line manager or HR person/team.

I've got my eCertificate but the bike I wanted is gone!

Since lockdown, the UK cycle industry has seen an extraordinary raise in bike sales and stock on models is limited in places. If the bike you want is no longer available, you have a few options:

If you wish to cancel and reapply, this may take time for your employer to do - it's worth avoiding this if you can.

If you're looking for a great value deal you may wish to check our offers page - we're doing our best to keep this up to date with well-stocked offers.

We also have a new page that aims to give up to the minute advice on stock of bikes in the UK.
