The firm has been picked as one of the winners of the inaugural ‘Smarta 100’ – a new award given to “remarkable companies that have gone the extra mile to differentiate themselves from the market or found clever ways to compete, from their marketing plan to their ethical stance”.
The judging panel for the award included Deborah Meaden, who commented: “Discovering great new businesses is a passion of mine as is encouraging businesses to think and work better. The Smarta 100 does both of these things – and celebrates the best of British business at the same time. I was delighted to see ambitious people saving hard and raising finances to turn their ideas into flourishing businesses.”
Smarta.com founder Sháá Wasmund added: “Socially conscious, disruptive businesses that are not afraid to challenge the status quo are being set up in the four corners of the country. I founded Smarta to make sure these enterprises are supported at any stage of development. The results speak for themselves – the Smarta 100 list is a collection of remarkable success stories.”
Cyclescheme director Richard Grigsby commented: “Since we founded Cyclescheme five years ago we have turned over 150,000 bikes.
"The current economic crisis has seen many employees looking to cycle to work to save money and the opportunity to get a quality bike and accessories with up to 50 per cent off means that over half of these participants are new to cycle commuting. One very exciting fact is that, a very uncharacteristic 25 per cent of all vouchers are issued to women, showing that we are reaching a very wide range of the working populous.”
