Be the Start is an initiative all about starting something - new ways to be happier and healther, to live more resourcefully, to be part of more vibrant communities to travel smarter and to transform us all into a nation that shares.
Be a 'Starter' and take part in the BikeMiles® Amazon Challenge
Join in the sustainable activities by taking part in our collective challenge! We are challenging Cycleschemers to join in and collectively ride to the Amazon rainforest 10 times! Thats a whopping 60,000 miles or 12,360 kg's of CO2 (had someone driven the same distance in a small car).
How do I take part?
All you need to do is start logging the miles you cycle on your BikeMiles® account. It doesn't matter whether you're commuting, cycling to the shops or enjoying a leisurely weekend ride. Just getting out on your bike and logging your miles between the 6th to the 19th of May is all you need to do to be part of the challenge!
The 100 Cycleschemers who log the most miles during the challenge will each receive a free bottle of Green Oil (the world's greenest bike maintenance oil).
Terms and conditions
To be eligible to take part in the BikeMiles® Amazon Challenge, BikeMiles® must be logged between Monday 6th and Thursday 23rd May 2013. Any journeys logged after midnight on 19th May will not be counted. Winners will be notified week commencing 20th May 2013 by email. The top 100 mile contributors will win a bottle of 100ml Green Oil. Please note that Grass Roots employees and employees of their commercial partners are not eligible for prizes. Cyclescheme participants/BikeMiles® users can only win gold prizes once in a 12 month period. Cyclescheme reserves the right to query the validity of contestants journeys and milage and exclude entrants as a result of investigation.
